Property Taxes: What is it Worth?

In preparing to pay my property taxes, I am smiling! Two years ago, I was paying almost $10,000 in taxes for a 3,000 SF home in a subdivision. Today, taxes for 13 acres of land with 1400 SF house and a 2500 SF barn in just slightly over $250 - YES, $250! Yippee.

What are your property taxes?

Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table
At which he's fed.
Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes
Are the rule.
Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.
Tax his ties,
Tax his shirt,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.
Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he
Tries to think.
Tax his cigars,
Tax his beers,
If he cries, then
Tax his tears.
Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax his ass
Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won't be done
Till he has no dough.
When he screams and hollers,
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He's good and sore.
Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which he's laid.
Put these words upon his tomb,
"Taxes drove me to my doom..."
When he's gone,
Do not relax,
Its time to apply
The inheritance tax.

And I still have to "press 1" for English

NoMas,
I'm glad to live in America, and taxes are part of it. And yes, they ARE steep when you own a home in a city or suburb.

However at $250 a year ? Hmmmm, a farm with all that land is starting to sound VERY good instead !

I'm paying about 5k per year. I'm able to write it off on the federal taxes though. Still sucks that when I pay my house off taxes and insurance are still going to run me $516 per month

Hammer - that's still a pretty good deal considering apartment rental would run about $1,000 (one bedrm) with no write offs. Alas, we still have it good.
